Burn period extended until Sept. 1st in Maryville

Maryville residents needing to burn yard waste will have extra time to get that accomplished. Maryville city officials have extended the current timeline until the end of the month.

Maryville Public Safety Director, Keith Wood, says the burn period extensions often occur based on weather trends.

"Essentially you can burn up at this point now up to September 1st small twigs and brush from your yard.  It shouldn't be any closer than 50 feet to a structure and have a water source available.  And you can only do it from dawn to dusk."

The extended yard waste burn period ends on September 1st. the Maryville Public Safety Department reserves the right to cancel the burn period if weather conditions become too dangerous or unsafe.
